If you want a good cry, take a listen to Prince’s only recording of “Nothing Compares 2 U” — an unreleased version of song he recorded in in 1984, and covered and made famous by Sinead O’Connor in 1990.
The studio track of the iconic song was just released, and it hints at what could be thousands of Prince recordings waiting to be discovered inside the legendary vault at Paisley Park.
Which, incidentally, is hiring right now: one lucky music lover — presumably a Prince fan — will have a chance to dig through and catalogue the artifacts of the 65,000-square-foot complex, which has become a museum since Prince’s untimely passing in 2016.
A new job listing tells us Paisley Park is looking for a Archives Supervisor, where “some knowledge of Prince is helpful.” The job responsibilities are quite long, but include everything from caring for, cataloging, storing and preserving all archival materials to updating the artifact database.
All in, it sounds like a serious archival job for an experienced archivist. If that’s you, best get to applying.
