Every job has office perks. Some are better than others.
And then there are some that involve a rumpus racetrack built by arguably the best sports car manufacturer in the world.
That office: the just-opened $100 million Porsche Experience Center.
Home to 450 employees and designed by architecture firm HOK, the Experience Center is the German automaker’s new North American headquarters, meant to be a destination for motor enthusiasts from all over the world.
In addition to the 1.6-mile-long driver development track — which hosts instructor-led driving modules that demonstrate how different Porsche models can handle off-road and low-friction conditions — the new HQ features a classic car gallery, restoration center, design studio, a 13,000-square-foot business center and track-side restaurant.
Customers who purchase a Porsche anywhere in the U.S. can pick it up at the Atlanta facility and receive a VIP experience that includes a behind-the-scenes tour, 90 minutes on the track and a detailed vehicle orientation session with a delivery specialist.
The LEED-certified campus is expected to welcome 30,000 guests each year and already took home Best in Show at the American Society of Interior Design Georgia Chapter’s Design Excellence Awards.
"Porsche’s vision was to create a bold environment where the physical elements are as memorable as its vehicles’ driving experience,” says HOK VP Betsy Nurse. “This honor from ASID Georgia reinforces the success of the project and Porsche’s vision."
