First came the Ferraris. Then came the hi-fi.

“Is that a Pininfarina?”

That question, normally reserved for classic-car oglers, is coming soon to a living room near you.

The Japanese brand Sharp Electronics is releasing a new high-end TV and audio line in partnership with the Italian design firm, made famous thanks to their legendary car designs, from Ferraris to Fiat Spiders.

Debuted at Berlin’s IFA Show this month, the “home theatre range includes three televisions, a sound bar, an all-in-one hi-fi system, a ‘party speaker’ and a portable Bluetooth speaker,” writes Luxury Launches. The publication also notes that while no specs or pricing has been announced, the release is likely to come in the first half of 2019.

This is far from the first time Pininfarina has branched off from the automotive world, first doing so in 1986 with the founding of Pininfarina Extra. Similar to Porsche Design, the firm has its steady, discerning hands in all manner of projects including carbon e-bikes and the severely underutilized Coca-Cola dispenser at movie theaters that lets you mix and match sodas.

When it comes to the televisions, there’s only so much you can do with a rectangle, but Pininfarina has still worked in some elegant touches at the base. The audio options, on the other hand, are more distinct. As the company notes, they’re all inspired “by the dynamic lines of the Pininfarina sports cars.”

One thing’s for sure, these have a heck of a lot more chance of ending up in your possession than their hypercar.
