Netflix Just Poached David Attenborough, Plans to Make Their Own ‘Planet Earth’

We don’t care who’s got him, just give us that voice

Got an idea? Try pitching it to Netflix. It’s easier to find a blank check over there than a spare pen.

King Content’s latest move is an on-brand doozie, a legacy heist to end all others. They just poached knighted naturalist David Attenborough from the BBC, with plans to produce an entire new Planet Earth-reminiscent series entitled Our Planet.

Scheduled to premier on April 5, 2019, Attenborough’s new series was brought to life with Alastair Fothergill’s Silverback Films. Fothergill directed Blue Planet, Planet Earth and Frozen Planet, so yes this is all old hat. But it’s a damn good hat, one that shifts very necessary attention to our planet’s dwindling corners. Expect stunning shots of wildlife and wilds across 50 countries over four years, all narrated by Attenborough’s equally wise and cheeky baritone.
