Have you ever had that dream where you’re on a busy city street and suddenly realize you’re naked?
Just us, huh?
It’s real life for photographer Erica Simone. As part of her “never-ending drive to challenge myself, even if it means getting naked in the freezing snow,” the New Yorker (by way of Paris and Los Angeles) decided to experience her new hometown sans accoutrement.
Starkers, in other words.
Noting our image-obsessed society and that “what we wear acts as a silent language,” Simone decided to experience the city without clothing and “become fully confident in [her] own skin.” Her new photo tome, Nue York: Self-Portraits of a Bare Urban Citizen, examines her brave commitment to the arts.
It’s brazen, funny and charitable: Some proceeds of the book will benefit the charity organisation Beauty For Freedom, a charity NGO that combats human trafficking.
