The biggest hindrance to hobby sea-explorers? The cumbersome gear, natch. Standard scuba tanks can weight between 30-35 pounds. Than you have masks, wetsuits and it all starts to seem like a rather large commitment. Now there’s a perfect solution for people who want to explore a bit without going full Jacques Cousteau.

Designed by a French start-up, the MiniDive Pro is a wearable diving system that allows owners to breathe underwater for as much as eight minutes at depths approaching 10 feet. Comprised of a small harness, mini air tank and basic mouthpiece, the MiniDive is as minimalist as it gets.

Refillable via a manual hand pump or electric air compressor, the MiniDive weighs two pounds (and feels lighter underwater) and is manufactured to the same standards as regular equipment.

There are different options, but a basic MiniDive system is $425 and has a two-year warranty.

Suddenly swimming with the fishes sounds a lot more enticing.
