Any country that counts John Muir and Teddy Roosevelt and among its forebears is a country built for adventure. And no matter how strong you are, go on enough adventures, and you’ll eventually get hurt. Biking accidents. Natural disasters. Cutting your finger on a beer can. Sh*t happens. And it’s good to have a first-aid kit when it does.

Two Israeli entrepreneurs designed a first-aid kit that not only repairs scrapes and bruises, but can also be used in just about any horrific situation you could think of, including those of biblical proportions.

They’re calling it the Meddsy, it’s up on Kickstarter now, and there several really cool things about the it.

Its housing is compact and tiered. Think Russian nesting doll. Open it up and push on the plus sign in the middle, and a column illuminates. You can then remove that column — now a magnetic floodlight — and stick to a wall or car hood. It can also deliver enough of a charge to jump a jeep. In the stacked trays surrounding it, you’ll find a whoppping seventy individual tools and aids, from bandages and water to air-purifying devices and painkillers.

Given our collective current fascination with the end times, the Meddsy is a product for its age. But forget the apocalypse for a moment. You’ll just be glad you had this thing next time you twist an ankle hiking.
