  • 05 March 2015

Because you don’t have time to find your horizons (let alone broaden them), we give you Meanwhile Elsewhere: InsideHook’s essential guide to cultural happenings. Plus: Put This In Your Ear, our March Spotify playlist of our favorite new tunes.

LISTEN: The Return of Bill Hicks
Bill Hicks

“I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out.” Ah, we miss the acerbic wit of the late, great Bill Hicks. Starting this month, Hicks’s entire, mostly out-of-print catalogue of albums and comedy specials will be available digitally for the first time, from 1989’s Sane Man through his posthumous 2010 release American: The Bill Hicks Story. (Available this month)

Psychedelic Sex

LSD and free love invaded glossy men’s mags during the late '60s, adorning the centerfolds with some pretty wild psychedelic imagery. Art publisher TASCHEN’s collected the best of this flower power sexiness in their latest hardcover. Not feeling "groovy?" Try the more modern erotic aesthetic of Live FAST magazine, just launched. (Available now)

WATCH: It Follows
It Follows

Bored teens in Detroit discover an evil spirit — in the form of a person they may or may not know — who will follow them to their death unless they pass along the “curse.” Which they can only pass via ... sex. At heart a smart indie film about hormonal adolescence, It Follows sources enough DNA from Halloween and The Ring to raise the heart rate. Plus: one of the most unnerving horror soundtracks ever. (Opens March 13)

LISTEN: Action Bronson
Action Bronson

The enigmatic white rapper from Queens channels Ghostface Killah, Easy Rider and Iron Chef on his major label debut Mr. Wonderful, a hallucinatory hip-hop journey that’s high on personality and food-centric wordplay (the man used to be a chef: check out his web series Fuck, That’s Delicious). By the way, the video for his first single, “Actin’ Crazy” is, well, batsh-- insane. (Due out March 24)
