Leatherman’s Big, Bad 18-Tooler Is $30 Off Right Now

Everything but the kitchen sink (though it can surely fix one)

Tim Leatherman invented his eponymous multitool on a budget Euro trip in 1975. “At some point, we needed to repair the car,” he once told InsideHook. “And we needed to fix the bad plumbing at our cheap hotel. My idea was to add pliers to a pocket knife. Nobody had really done that before.”

Leatherman now does more than $100m in revenue each year, with a portfolio of products that has branched out into keychain multitools, bracelet multitools, and activity-specific tools for things like surfing, archery and and skateboarding. But it’s their knife-equipped folding pliers — Leatherman’s original vision — that still account for the lion’s share of sales.

If you don’t own one, well, shame on you. Leatherman is pretty much the dictionary definition of a “buy it once” product: each model comes with a 25-year warranty, and the company eagerly and happily repairs anything that fails to meet it. That quality, of course, commands a pretty penny, with Leatherman’s core collection rangning from $60 (for the 14-tool Wingman or 7-tool Skeletool) all the way up to $300 for this 19-tool Damascus teel and titanium Charge+

But right now our friends at Huckberry are offering a bit of a Godfather deal on the 18-tool Wave+: it’s just $70, which is $30 cheaper than we’ve ever seen it (it’s currently listed on Amazon for $100). It’s worth noting that Wirecutter considers the Wave+ “the best full-sized multi-tool” you can buy, citing its smooth movements and best-in-class knife action.

Note that you’ll be limited to the black oxide colorway (pictured above) at Huckberry, but that’s probably the one we would’ve chosen anyway.
