Some men collect rare Scotch.

Others, baseball cards.

Auto dealer Jim Click collects Fords. Fast ones.

Now, after 25 years of scavenging, restoring and auction-floor strong-arming his way to glory, Click has designed to downsize, and is selling off six pieces of his Ford Performance Collection on August 19th and 20th during Pebble Beach’s Concours d’Elegance.

Highlighted by a 1966 Ford GT40 that the company originally kept to be used as a promotional model, Click’s supercharged six-pack is rounded out by two Shelby Cobras (a ‘64 CSX 2473 and a CSX 2326 from the same year) and a trio of Mustangs (a ‘66 GT350 and a pair of Boss 302 Trans Am race cars from ‘69 and ‘70).

The GT40 is expected to fetch upwards of $4.25 million, while the Cobras may bring in an additional $4 million on their own, with the Mustangs raking in anywhere from $2-$3 million. The cars will be sold individually, and each one is still in track-ready condition thanks to regular “exercise” courtesy of Click and racing great Don Roberts.

“We recently had the pleasure of spending a couple of days on the track with the Click cars and can attest they are all exceptional vehicles,” says RM Sotheby’s car specialist Donnie Gould. “Each has been kept in top racing form, thanks to none other than the legendary Don Roberts, who made them extremely fast and extremely safe.”

Safety first.
