Our favorite quote on aging?

One question, though: Are we allowed to regret not growing older in proximity to Jikka, this beautiful little five-hut complex tucked in the mountains of Tokyo’s Shizuoka Prefecture?
Because hot damn.
Architect Issei Suma designed Jikka for two women in their 60s who live there full time. Senior care services are provided on site.
Outside, it looks like an airy cluster of five teepee-shaped huts. Inside, the concrete and timber interiors have bright open spaces optimized for the services they provide, such as nursing, rehabilitation and prep space for a meal-delivery program. There is also a spiral pool designed for people in wheelchairs.
We love the modern look of the concrete walls, with vaulted ceilings and naturally filtered light.
The entire complex is just over 1,000-square-feet, and sets a good precedent for design-forward social services buildings.
