Here Are the Most Popular Items on Amazon Prime for 2018

Conclusion: You REALLY like Alexa products. And apples.

Nobody cares that they’re listening.

Say all you want about voice assistants and invasion of privacy, but Amazon’s just-released Best of Prime 2018 report pretty much proves we’re all just fine letting Alexa run our lives; devices with built-in voice commands dominated sales.

As for study itself: While Amazon touts the two billion products being ordered with one-day delivery or faster, as well as Prime’s 100 million paid members, we’re more into what people ordered.

A few caveats before we dive in: Hard sales figures for these items were not released by Amazon. Most, if not all of these are designated “Amazon’s Choice” products and tend to show up near the top of any search on the site. And several of these items, as noted below, are perpetually on sale (which isn’t to say they aren’t solid products — most of these get above four stars in the reviews).

Ignoring the favorites in Prime’s TV/music streaming services (congrats, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan and Justin Timberlake) and Prime deals at Whole Foods (congrats, organic apples), here’s a rundown on the products that topped sales at Amazon’s web store:

Best-Selling Product: Fire TV Stick With Alexa Voice Remote. And no surprise, Echo Dot came in number two, which was also the top product for Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Top Cookware: Lodge 10.25-Inch Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet

Top TV: TCL 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV (it didn’t specify which year’s model, but the 2018 version is currently 36% off and just $450).

Top Appliance: Danby 120-Can Beverage Center (currently 38% off)

Top Tool: Ergodyne N-Ferno Winter Balaclava Ski Mask … not sure why this is considered a “tool,” but it is 35% off.

Top Pick for Kids: Play-Doh 10-Pack

Fastest Delivery with Prime Now: An 8-minute shipment of Hartz Home Protection Lavender Scent Odor-Eliminating Gel Dog Pads in Berkeley, CA.

The Best of Prime analyzed Prime benefits between October 1, 2017 through September 30, 2018. Still worried about privacy? “Information included in these results examines data at a collective level, without viewing personal information by specific Prime members,” the company’s press release notes.
