Larry David Is Still a Hilarious Prick in the First ‘Curb’ Trailer in 7 Years

Some things never change

As Richard Lewis tells Larry David in the just-released trailer for the forthcoming season of Curb Your Enthusiasm: “You’re devoid of anything that’s remotely caring or empathetic.”

Considering the clip is titled “Larry’s Back & Nothing Has Changed,” the Seinfeld co-creator’s response is really not much of a surprise. “That was a great compliment,” David tells Lewis.

As the trailer makes clear, Lewis will be returning to the show following a six-year hiatus, as will longtime Curb regulars Susie and Jeff Greene (Susie Essman and Jeff Garlin), Leon Black (J.B. Smoove), Cheryl David (Cheryl Hines) and Marty Funkhouser (Bob Einstein). There will also be some new players in the mix: Andrea Savage, Carrie Brownstein, Jimmy Kimmel, Nick Offerman. It also appears that Bryan Cranston — who previously worked with David while playing dentist Tim Whatley on Seinfeld — will be on the show as David’s therapist.

As Cranston says in the trailer, “I enjoy the mind of Larry David.” Cynically, so do we.

The new season of Curb debuts October 1st. Here’s a stellar podcast that goe behind the scenes to tide you over until then.
