Drunk? Lyft and Budweiser Will Give You a Ride Home — for Free.

Friends don’t let friends pay surge charges!

You know what they say about martinis: three’s too many, two’s never enough.

Luckily, someone wants to make sure we all get home safe in the event we end up on the wrong side of that line — and for free, no less.

Thanks to a new partnership between ride-sharing service Lyft and Budweiser, tipsy passengers will be able to hitch a ride home on the house. Through the end of the year, the two will be offering complimentary rides to drunk patrons as a facet of Budweiser’s #GiveADamn initiative to prevent impaired driving and the damage they cause.

The program will be available exclusively in New York state, Illinois, Florida and Colorado on Fridays and Saturdays between 10 PM and 8 AM to those 21-years-old and above. To take ‘em up on the offer, riders will need to claim one of the coupon codes both Lyft and Budweiser will be sharing via their respective Facebook and Twitter accounts each week. Once you have found the code, the user will be redirected to a site for claiming the credit, which will be transferred directly into your personal Lyft account. Each coupon entitles a person to a free ride up to $10 with a limit of one per weekend.

Budweiser is expected to provide 80,000 rides total. “By giving passengers access to 5,000 free rides each week, we hope everyone will think twice before getting behind the wheel after drinking and look to us as a solution,” said Lyft’s Oliver Hsiang.

Now let us all raise a glass — perhaps that third martini — to Lyft and Budweiser for this valiant endeavor to save our lives.
