Finally, a Beer Case That Doubles as a Disposable Cooler

Guess we're drinking Dogfish Head all summer

If you’ve transported enough soggy cases of beer over the years, the last thing you’re probably wont to do is shovel some ice on top of the cans to create a makeshift cooler.

Cardboard offers many things, but structural integrity isn’t one of them.

But the folks at Dogfish Head feel differently, and are thinking, well, inside the box this summer. As part of the Delaware-based brewers’ “Off-Center Your Summer” campaign, they’re now selling a water-resistant 12-pack. The case’s wet-strength paperboard pops up and out, offering a little extra depth so customers can dump a bag of ice straight over an assortment of their famous 60 Minute IPA, SeaQuench Ale, Lupu-Luau IPA and Namaste White. Smell ya later, styrofoam.

Will it compete with a $200 Yeti? Of course not. But summer beer at a backyard soiree should be noncommittal, easy and a bit offbeat. Dogfish is also running a photo contest alongside the initiative (just upload a photo to Instagram with captions #DogfishEntry and #offcentered by Labor Day; photo must include a Dogfish beer), and the winner gets all sorts of goodies, including a stay at (and transport to) the Dogfish Inn, along with a happy hour at their Steampunk Treehouse.
