Dogfish’s New ‘Survival’ Beer Is Packed With Superfoods, a Swiss Army Knife

Pairing suggestions: canned food, paranoia

In 2011, Iowa man J. Wilson did his best imitation of a ritual that Munich’s Paulaner monks used to undertake by surviving on beer and water alone for 46 days. If you’re keen on trying that trick at home, Dogfish Head now makes the perfect pint for subsistence imbibing.

Brewed using Tom Brady-approved ingredients like blueberries, açai, goji berries, purple sweet potatoes, rose hips, chia seeds, flax seed, spelt, oats and quinoa, It’s The End of the Wort As We Know It is a micronutrient- and vitamin-rich beer that contains more than 90% of the daily recommended serving of folic acid. In addition to keeping you alive, the new offering will almost certainly deliver a solid buzz: the ABV checks in at a healthy 9%.

“Myself and six other co-workers from various departments at Dogfish set out to brew the most survivalist-oriented beer Dogfish has ever made and packed it with a bunch of delicious culinary ingredients, resulting in a ton of goodness in the form of essential vitamins and amino acids,” said Dogfish founder and CEO Sam Calagione.

Priced at $45, each one of the 750ml bottles comes with a Dogfish-branded Swiss army knife, solar blanket and length of paracord. If you’d like one of the 200 limited-edition bottles, they’re dropping on January 27th at the Dogfish brewery in Delaware.
