“I felt like destroying something beautiful.”

Tyler Durden was talking about Jared Leto’s face.

But we feel it’s an equally effective epigram for Disintegrating II, a new video exhibit by Swiss artist Fabian Oefner in which a succession of supercars — an Auto Union Type C, Maserati 250F, Ford GT40, Bugatti 57 SC and Porsche 956 — explode into a million little pieces.

Before you start weeping, don’t worry: it’s all an illusion.

“What you see in these images, is a moment that never existed in real life,” explains Oefner of the piece, which is currently on display at the MB&F M.A.D.Gallery Dubai. “What looks like a car falling apart is in fact a moment in time that has been created artificially by blending over 2,000 individual images together.”
