The Man Who Built the Discovery Channel Also Built One Helluva Ranch

4,000 acres of protected land? He would.

Walk into even the crappiest hostel in Vietnam and locate the nearest TV and chances are it’ll have the Discovery Channel — it’s available in over 430 million homes in 170 countries (that’s pretty close to all of them).

All those advertising dollars on all those shows in all those homes (and hostels) adds up to a pretty penny — and a good portion of it must have landed in founder John Hendricks’ pocket: He’s currently selling his Colorado ranch for $149 million

What’s that include? A bonkers Southwestern-style manse. Oh and, y’know, the usual: “eight bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a great room, a lovely formal dining room, chef’s kitchen, a theater, art studio, gym, game room, and study.”

Plus one crucial addition: Four thousand surrounding acres, which have been handed over to the Nature Conservancy, meaning that any interloping billionaires looking to ride out the apocalypse in the Rockies will have to look elsewhere.

Finders keepers and all that.

But seriously. This ranch is bonkers. Check the full gallery below.
