It was just about a year ago when the Land Rover Defender was regretfully discontinued.

Aside from the occasional anniversary model, we thought the move meant the end of new Defenders warming our 4x4 hearts. We were wrong.

Thanks to personalization shops like Project Kahn in the UK, new custom versions — like this Land Rover Defender Double Cab Pickup — are still here to delight (and tease) us with glimpses of what might have been.

Using a classic all-wheel-drive Defender as a base, the Double Cab Pickup model was blessed with custom touches like extra-wide front and rear wings, a new front bumper and grille, an extra two inches of suspension lift, alloy wheels, a stainless steel exhaust and a slew of LEDs.

That SUV’s 122-HP diesel engine ain't gonna save you any cash at the pump and its purchase price ($873,000) won’t really make up for it, but the Defender Double Cab could still be worth it.

Especially if you turn it into your mobile home.
