In Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer tells the story of Chris McCandless, a young man who ventures, well, into the wild, finds an abandoned bus and makes it his makeshift home.
Lacking basic amenities (food, mainly), McCandless eventually meets a grisly end. But had he instead found this renovated bus in the woods, well, maybe things would have turned out differently.
The fridge doesn’t come stocked, but this decommissioned North Carolina State bus is otherwise seriously liveable thanks to a slew of upgrades, ranging from a raised ceiling (they’re now eight feet), a full kitchen and range, and plenty of space for a bed or cot.
She's on the market for $20k, so if you're a regular road-tripper or camper, this might be the rig for you. There's a rustic appeal to the pipe stove and wood-lined walls, and it's not too small to house a friend or two, your dog and some gear for a killer weekend.
The only catch? No bathroom.
You might have to go into the wild for that.
