This Teardrop Trailer Is a Bunk-Bed Palace

Like a family-friendly mountain cabin on 35-inch tires

A teardrop trailer is the ultimate Rorschach test, signalling a man’s tastes, aspirations, and station in life: Here’s an aluminum box, what do you want to put inside? A “Don Draper-quality drinks station”? Here you go. Perhaps an open-air bar, suitable for receptions? Ditto. An expandable party deck? It’s out there.

If, though, you’ve come to the stage of life where the answer must be: “Bunk beds!” then we’ve got the trailer for you.

Enter the 2018 Summit from Colorado Teardrop Campers.

Per Curbed, it has all the bells and whistles you’d expect from a $21,500 home on wheels. The walls, floors, ceiling and doors are insulated; there’s under-floor and galley storage, two reading lights, a main light and a pop-up vent for circulation. There’s a handsome galley area in the back, with a deep countertop, stove sliders and swing-out doors tough enough to hold your packed Yeti coolers. All weighing in at around 1600 pounds

The main attraction, though, is the sleeping space: Not only is there room for a now-standard queen-size memory foam mattress, there are also two bunk beds, all in a maple (plywood)-lined living room that’s working a strong mountain cabin vibe (except this mountain cabin has wheels).

It’s suitable, per Colorado, for your “young family, grandchildren or large dogs.” Or, you know, a bazillion utterly delighted small dogs.
