ASICS Has Invented the Mood Ring of Footwear

Color-changing sneakers are a wonder to behold

Remember when you had to decide what color of shoes to buy?

That was so lame, right? Now we have shoes that change color, because we live in the future.

Just in time for the changing of the autumn leaves from green to a rainbow of yellows, oranges and deep reds, the folks over at ASICS Tiger are coming out with sneakers that change color with every stride. Dubbed “Chameloid Mesh,” and offered in two popular styles — the Gel-Kayano Trainer Evo and Gel-Lyte Runner — the kicks feature lightweight mesh uppers that actually change color depending on how the light hits them.

Here they are in action:

Both styles look great, whether adding a little flair to your commute or a bit of edge to your next 5k run.

ASICS isn’t the only brand exploring color-shifting technologies. Both Adidas and Nike are on the hunt for a breakout color-changing shoe, but neither have been able to achieve such a stylish, dramatic offering.

All told, the style gates are now officially busted open.

Color us excited.
