Remember how your mom used to tell you eating carrots would help you see in the dark?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but like Santa, the Easter Bunny and your dog moving to a farm, that was a lie.

Luckily for all of us duped carrot-eaters, Caterpillar has created a new smartphone with a thermal camera alongside its regular photo lens, which allows users to see in total darkness.

Designed for engineers and construction workers, the rough-and-tumble Cat S60 Smartphone’s embedded FLIR thermal camera can pick up heat and measure temperatures from a distance of up to 100 feet. It also sees through smoke and can even function underwater.

The dustproof Cat S60 — which exceeds military specifications — can withstand drops onto concrete from up to six feet, and its 4.7-inch HD touchscreen is protected by Gorilla Glass 4.

While it ain’t light (a half-pound) or cheap ($599), the phone is available for preorder right now.

Your next raid on a terrorist training camp is going to be awesome.
