Here Is a Pretty Grill Your Deck Will Like

You're the Joneses now.

Gathering around a fire is a tale as old as time. If there’s something delicious turning slowly over the coals, well that’s time-honored too.

Now that we’re more or less upright and indoors, we cook on stoves and grills. Not the most social environs — most grills don’t offer a true standing around experience because they’re often built into decks and consoles, and because they have lids that are prohibitive.

This new grill solves that design limitation by mimicking a kitchen island. It’s a collaboration by the Caliber Range, maker of beautiful, high quality grills, and the Rockwell Group, a design firm responsible for big hospitality projects like the Dream Hotel and Nobu.

The grill is a rolling island made of Brazilian cherry and blanketed in a powder-coated aviation-grade aluminum that wraps the surface like a tablecloth. The Crossflame burners deliver 20,000 BTUs of heat, and the hood retracts completely, leaving the grill exposed like a you’re at a Korean BBQ restaurant.

And at 60 inches wide by 30 inches deep you have plenty of room to feed a party. Just make sure to tell ’em there’s a dress code.
