Crime in the streets. Two-face billionaires running amok and/or for president. An endemic army of creepy clowns sweeping the nation.

And the creepy clown craze sweeps not just across our fair lands but also the United Kingdom.

Now more than ever the world needs a vigilante. A caped crusader, some may say.

Thankfully, a costume company in Whitehaven, Cumbria is making sure the clowns terrorizing the city see justice by sending Batman to patrol the streets.

Check out the video from BCC Cumbria:

Clowns beware! Batman is patrolling the streets of Whitehaven helping children who have been scared by the ‘clown craze’.

According to reports, the response came after local school children in Whitehaven were (understandably) terrified at the clown sightings. Meanwhile in London, a whole host of “killer clown” incidents have been reported, and if what’s been happening in the U.S. is any indication, the craze will continue to spread.

So in a sense, you’ve really gotta appreciate the superhero response. He may not be law enforcement proper, but he is a symbol of defense and safety, especially for the kids (but also for coulrophobics everywhere).

Now what can this “Batman” do for the U.S.? We may have to throw up the bat signal to see.
