Scottish Sweater Brand Finally Available in US, 200 Years Later

Pringle of Scotland is now online. Kilts off to 'em, lads.

Stuck in a rut of flannel and denim?

Pringle of Scotland is here to welcome you with two superior fall staples: knitwear and cashmere.

The 200-year-old luxury brand finally launched an online global flagship store. And since they currently have exactly zero brick-and-mortar stores in the U.S., that means they are coincidentally launching their first official U.S. store.

You should definitely pick something(s) up. Because when the chill rolls off the sea and the wind whips through the barren trees, nothing beats a wool tartan check jacket.

Their initial online selection also features lambswool and cashmere scarves and knitwear that draws on heritage-inspired designs without making you look like you’re fresh off the meadow.

Lest you think we’re throwing around stereotypes, their A/W 2016 campaign paints a fairly idyllic portrait of Scotland. Thinks windswept redheads on a grassy knoll, beams of sunlight breaking through clouds over the lush prairie … it’s all there.

Aside from shopping, their newfound digital presence promises to educate consumers about a brand they need to know.

“[The online store] also gives us fresh opportunities to present the brand’s rich 200-year heritage,” writes Brand & Studo Director Katy Wallace, “and we’ve found some brilliant things in the archives to get us started.”

To get you started, here’s one of our favorites from their archives: Ryan McGinley’s 2010 film for them featuring Tilda Swinton.
