From Our No-Brainer Dept.: Handcrafted Log Speakers for Charity

Wood you like to hear some music?

As a member of the U.S. Men’s National Team, Jay DeMerit has spent years honing his craft on soccer pitches around the globe.

Now, as a way of supporting his Rise & Shine Foundation, DeMerit is mastering a different kind of pitch — the sonic kind.

Handcrafted from pieces of acoustic-quality wood like cedar, fir and hemlock that loggers in British Columbia left behind, Rockit Logs are some of the prettiest speakers we’ve ever seen. Each wood-encased stereo delivers 60 watts of audio power in a portable package that can provide up to 10 hours of playback.

Capable of pairing with devices via Bluetooth or an auxiliary port, the Rockit Logs are funding on Kickstarter as part of a campaign launched by DeMerit to “fund the hardware investment needed to mass produce the audio technology” behind the innovative speakers. After the $50k goal is met, Rockit Logs will donate all profits to the Rise & Shine Foundation, which aids families in need in Kansas City.
