All of LA’s Best Food, in One Place

Set belts to wide. Eat. Drink. Be merry.

  • 08 July 2015

From the driving, to the parking, to the not knowing where to drive or park, dinner in L.A. is harder than it should be. That’s why we created Dinner Plan — your three-step itinerary to a damn good time. Here’s your plan.

Chef Johnny Ray Zone is an L.A. boy. Born and bred.

But during a stint in Nashville, he developed a taste for hot-fried chicken.

Actually — as any man who's ever tasted Tennessee hot-fried chicken will attest — he developed an addiction.

An addiction you can share at the sixth annual LA Street Food Festival, which we break down in this week's Dinner Plan.

On tap: Zone's Howlin Ray's chicken, along with other highlights, tips and hidden gems you'd be wise to jot down before hitting the Rose Bowl this Saturday (tickets right this way).

You'll find the city's best food trucks alongside outposts of brick-and-mortar haunts like Tacoteca, Sweetfin Poké and Salt & Straw (all newcomers at this year’s edition).

Speaking of Salt & Straw, they collaborated with Chef Roy Choi on Papi’s Salted Nuts, an explosive flavor combo that includes Beijing-style boiled peanut ice cream, marshmallow fluff and Stumptown coffee with chocolate caramel pecans a la Compartes.

More on that inside.
