There’s a New Ford F-150 in Town. Meet the Tremor.
Ford adds a lower-priced off-road option to its most popular truck

Never heard of it? The automaker started rolling out the Tremor in its current configuration back in 2019 on the F-250 and F-350 Super Duty models, and then on the midsize Ranger, but the name actually goes back to a limited-edition sport truck from the 2014 model year. The newer Tremor, however, swaps that street performance for off-road chops.
In its most basic sense, the new Ford F-150 Tremor sits between your standard, practical F-150 and the higher-priced, off-road-tuned Raptor. It’s meant to offer the best of both worlds. As Bloomberg writes, that middle ground carries over into the cost as well: “Ford hasn’t released pricing but said it will be less than the Raptor hot-rod truck that starts at $53,455.”
“F-150 Tremor has been designed and engineered for customers seeking more off-road capability than the available FX4 package and is the result of watching how customers use their trucks for life out in cornfields, on dusty two-tracks, in muddy bogs and on rock-strewn trails,” Ford wrote in a press release. “All the added capability comes without ignoring the core duties of a truck — outstanding towing and payload performance with a level of integration and technology only Ford can offer.”
Some of that added capability includes upgraded suspension (lifting it about an inch), Tremor-specific shocks, 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires and a Raptor-style bash plate, among other things. Essentially, Ford is offering a factory version of what many F-150 owners do to their trucks themselves — upgrading them for either trail performance or just general road-going grandstanding. And that only makes sense, the F-150 continues to be one of the best-selling vehicles every year, so it behooves Ford to squeeze as much money out of the vehicle as possible.
The 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor will be available starting in the summer, and will only be available in a four-door SuperCrew configuration with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 and 10-speed automatic transmission.
