If you drive around 100 miles south of Tampa, you’ll find yourself in the town of Punta Gorda, Florida. It’s there that a man named Rick Treworgy established a unique museum, called Muscle Car City, 17 years ago. The collection of cars there reflects Treworgy’s own interests — he’s been buying cars since he was 14, and has a particular fondness for Chevrolets.

Treworgy had explored leaving the museum business in the near future, and the pandemic accelerated his plans to do so. As a result, he’s putting the collection up for auction.

The auction is set for January 22 and 23, with a preview to be held on the 21st. It’ll encompass cars, along with road art and motorcycles. Of particular interest: these auctions have no reserve.

There are some impressive classic cars on display, including a 1962 Chevrolet Bel Air Bubble Top and a 1963 Corvette. If you’re feeling more esoteric, a 1956 GMC fire truck or a race car built for the 2000 film Charlie’s Angels. As you might have noticed, this auction is going to include a lot of cars.

At The Drive, Kristin V. Shaw notes that Treworgy is keeping a few vehicles on hand after the auction. “[H]e told me he’s still keeping a mini-museum at his home with about 50 of his favorites,” Shaw writes. Treworgy’s daughter is also getting her pick from the collection. This auction is an impressive culmination of one man’s dream — and it might help a few buyers achieve theirs as well.
