Will it be an SUV? A sedan? Or something else?

Audi and Porsche are already heavily invested in electric vehicle technology; from the former you can currently buy the e-tron and e-tron Sportback, and the latter offers the top-of-the-line Taycan. As for Bentley, just two weeks ago the British automaker announced it will be EV-only starting in 2030. All three are luxury brands, all three are part of Volkswagen Group (itself an electric leader), which makes the latest news not that surprising, but exciting nonetheless.

Audi, Bentley and Porsche are reportedly working together on a new ultra-luxury flagship electric vehicle with the code name “Landjet.” Is this the electric version of the land yacht of yesteryear? Possibly, but the details are sparse.

Here’s what we know: According to Roadshow, which is in turn getting its information from German news outlet Handelsblatt, it’s a three-row vehicle with seating for seven, but the design could be either an SUV or an extremely large sedan. Autoblog has some more details, noting that the production will take place in Hanover, Germany at a factory that currently produces Volkswagen Transporter vans, leading to the suggestion that it will indeed be a larger sport utility vehicle.

“Expect high performance, a high driving range, and semi-automated driving technology,” writes Autoblog.

Also, according to reports, expect the Audi version to come first, as early as 2024, with Porsche and Bentley following with their own models on the shared platform.
