In addition to having diamonds, rubies and sapphires, the Washington Nationals’ 2019 championship rings also feature the team’s unofficial mascot: a baby shark.

Unveiled over the weekend, the World Series rings feature 170 round diamonds — including 31 custom-cut rubies, 24 princess-cut rubies and 32 custom-cut genuine sapphires — that combine for a total gem carat weight of 23.20 carats.

The interior of the ring features the logo of each of the four teams Washington beat during the 2019 postseason as well as a baby shark holding a yellow gold trophy. Washington outfielder Gerardo Parra used “Baby Shark” as his walkup song during the season, and it became a sensation at Nationals Park every time he stepped up to the plate.

Though the rings have been revealed, Washington’s players have not officially received them and will wait to get them during an in-person ring ceremony which will be held at some point in the future. They had originally been scheduled to receive the rings over the weekend during a virtual ceremony, but players requested that the event be held at a later date.

“When team leaders discussed the plan this week with the players, the players collectively decided they would prefer to receive their rings when the team could be physically reunited,” the Nationals said in a statement. “We support that decision.”
