With a plethora of health experts at the ready to consult on the coronavirus pandemic, President Donald Trump reportedly reached out to former New York Yankees third basemen Alex Rodriguez for his thoughts on the situation. If that isn’t the most 2020 sentence written today, it’s certainly close.

ABC’s senior editorial producer John Santucci tweeted out that the call to Rodriguez was part of Trump’s “continued outreach” for opinions and advice on how he is handling the pandemic, which recently reached over 100,000 confirmed cases in the United States. Santucci also said that a source close to A-Rod called the talk “pleasant,” which also confirming that this is not part of bringing Rodriguez on board as an official member of the response team.

For his part, Trump took his Twitter account to say what he always says, calling the report “fake news”:

As Business Insider points out, Rodriguez has no background in medicine or public health, though he does have a nebulous connection to Trump, as they both spent a number of high-profile years in New York City. Coincidentally, NYC has been one of the hardest hit cities in the country by the virus, with 84 people dying on Friday as the expotential spread of the disease continues.

The report comes on the same day that Trump signed the $2 trillion coronavirus stimulus, which will, among bailouts for businesses, deliver $1200 to each tax-paying citizen in the country. The deal has been criticized by some Democrats for not doing enough for Americans, while leaning heavily towards corporate aid.
