An LPGA star attacked so ruthlessly by online trolls after she played a round of golf with President Trump and Rush Limbaugh that she decided to pull the plug on her social media accounts.

Lexi Thompson, 24, played 18 holes with the president and the conservative commentator last month at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.

After the White House posted a photo of the trio following their round, Instagram users began trolling Thompson’s account with what she described as “hurtful” messages even though she never posted any photos with Trump.

Thompson, the eighth-ranked women’s golfer in the world, apparently got sick of all the messages she was receiving and announced on her Instagram that she was taking a “break from social media” for a while.

“If I post it will be from my management team for me,” she wrote. “I’m too involved with it, and to read some of the hurtful things being said to me lately isn’t fair and I’m not dealing with it. Thank you to my true fans out there I will be back on but I’m going to be focusing on me right now and my life. Thanks for understanding.”

Responses to Thompson’s messages were both supportive and critical once again.
