“Trash” Quarterback Colin Kaepernick Bashed by New Critic: Antonio Brown

A free agent just like Colin Kaepernick, unsigned wide receiver Antonio Brown blew some smoke and tossed some shade at the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback during an appearance on the Cigar Talk podcast.

Brown, who has made plenty of headlines but drawn little attention from NFL teams after his bizarre sideline exit during a game against the Jets in New York towards the end of last season, ripped into Kaepernick for taking a juicy settlement payout in 2019 following his collusion lawsuit against the NFL and its owner for blackballing him.

Kaepernick, who is still trying to make his way back onto an NFL roster and has said he is willing to take a backup role in order to nab a spot on a team, is a “trash” quarterback who doesn’t really want to continue his playing career, according to Brown.

“He took a deal,” Brown said, per TMZ. “We don’t feel sorry for you. You took the deal. Fuck outta here. All that is crap. We ain’t respecting that, bro. You took the money, the commercials. We don’t see you outside. We don’t see him in the hood. He don’t do nothing. Like, we cool. But, nah, we ain’t even stan Kaepernick. He not even from the hood. He haven’t even been in the trenches. We like Kaepernick and all, but we ain’t really on that. He built a foundation. What it do, though? I’m being real. What superhero he enforce? Who he put on? Who he help?”

For one, the families of victims of police-related deaths who want to get a secondary autopsy but can’t afford it.

Even if Kaepernick, who also created the Know Your Rights Camp to aid in the fight for social justice, never helped a single soul, he would have done more for others than Brown, who has a long history of treating people in his employ like crap and stiffing them on payments whenever possible. He also lied about getting vaccinated so he could play football and has refused to get help for what many believe could be CTE-related mental health issues.

Appearing on something called ThisIs50, the 33-year-old wideout continued bashing the 34-year-old quarterback.

“Dudes like me, they ban you. They don’t even give you contracts. They don’t even want to deal with you. I’m not really an icon right now. You don’t see them writing no books about me,” Brown said. “You telling me, yo Colin Kaepernick, what did he do? What’s he at right now? Do you see him? I’m on the streets right now every day – people seeing me. They get excited. You know why? Because I make them feel good. They can relate. They know what’s really going on. But they know I still put on a smile and overcome it. Colin Kaepernick created all commotion then went in the cut in the corner. I’m in the people’s face every day.”

Why he chose to go after Kaepernick, who hasn’t played in the NFL since 2016 and was never a teammate of Brown’s, is unclear. Perhaps Brown realized that mentioning Kaepernick, who continues to be a big story in the NFL despite being out of the league for more than half a decade, would be a way to make himself somewhat relevant. That may actually be Brown’s best shot at relevancy, as it appears his chances of playing in the NFL again are about as good as Kap’s.
