The last shall still be last … but at least they got a win.

Entering Sunday as the only NFL team without a victory on the season, the Cincinnati Bengals snapped the longest losing streak in their history (13 games dating back to last season) and got a 22-6 win over the New York Jets. Quarterback Andy Dalton, who’d been benched in favor of second-year QB Ryan Finley three weeks ago, came back for the Bengals (1-11) and threw a touchdown pass in the win.

The Jets, who also lost to the then-winless Miami Dolphins earlier in the season, had won three in a row entering the game. Thanks to the loss, New York is the first franchise to lose to opponents with at least an 0-7 record twice in the same year.

As for the Dolphins, they hosted the Philadelphia Eagles and used some trickery to get a win, their third in five weeks, despite falling behind by 14 points.

One of the league’s other cellar-dwellers, the Washington Redskins, also got a win on the road against the Carolina Panthers. In Washington’s 29-21 victory over the Panthers, the team’s second straight, second-year running back Derrius Guice racked up 129 yards and two touchdowns while veteran Adrian Peterson ran for 99 yards and a score of his own.

Carolina had the chance to potentially tie the game with a two-point conversion, but the Panthers were unable to score from the 1-yard line, getting stuffed on four straight downs to end the game.

Along with the Bengals, the Redskins and Dolphins were a combined 4-29 heading into the weekend and appeared to have the best chances of securing the top spot in next April’s draft.

Now, the Dolphins and Redskins are two of five three-win teams in the NFL. While the Bengals still have the inside track on getting the top draft pick by having the worst record in the NFL, they may have some competition from the 2-10 Giants, who were erased by the Packers on Sunday.
