As has been reported for a few days now, Stephen Curry will return to the Golden State Warriors lineup from his broken left hand and take the floor on Sunday against the Wizards.

Previously reported by The Athletic, the news was confirmed by NBA scoopster Shams Charania on Twitter. Prior to Curry suiting up, he’ll have to go through one final re-evaluation on Saturday.

“He’s had that date in his mind,” said Warriors coach Steve Kerr. “He’ll continue to work this week and we’ll make that determination on Saturday.”

The six-time All-Star will return to a Golden State team that has really struggled without him and sharpshooter Klay Thompson in the lineup.

Losers of seven in a row, including a 112-94 home defeat to the Kings last night, the Warriors sit at 12-46 on the season, worst in the NBA.

In preparation for his comeback, Curry has been going through rigorous workouts and shouldn’t have too much of a minutes cap in his first game back from a layoff that’s lasted nearly four months.

The former two-time MVP only played in four games before he broke his hand in a game just before Halloween when Phoenix Suns center Aron Baynes fell on it. The break was complicated enough that Curry actually needed two surgeries to repair it.

“I’m getting used to what the new normal is,” Curry told the Athletic. “It definitely feels different than the right [hand]. But you try to get to the point when you’re playing basketball, you don’t think about it — whether it feels all the way same or not, it doesn’t really matter, as long as I’m not worried about the things I’m trying to do, the strength part of it and how it bounces back the next day after pushing it in contact stuff.”

New normal or not, it looks like Curry can still drain halfcourt shots at a better clip than some players in the NBA — looking at you Dwight Howard — can make free throws.
