Although it seems more like two years, the NBA season was postponed a little more than two weeks ago after Rudy Gobert of the Jazz tested positive for coronavirus.

Thanks to the cancellation, Steph Curry, who just returned from injury after missing most of the season, has some time on his hands. On Thursday, he did something even more productive than practicing his jump-shot with it and interviewed Dr. Anthony Fauci about the current coronavirus pandemic for his more than 30 million Instagram followers.

Speaking with the Golden State Warriors superstar with more than 65,000 fans watching, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases discussed a number of coronavirus-related topics, including when the NBA might return and how Covid-19 is different than the flu.

Fauci on the former: “You need to see the trajectory of the curve start to come down. We can start thinking about getting back to some degree of normality when the country as a whole has turned that corner and started coming down.”

Fauci on the latter: “It’s significantly more serious. The mortality of seasonal flu that we confront every year is about 0.1%. The overall mortality of the coronavirus is around 1%. So when people kind of compare it, it’s really, really different in its degree of seriousness.”

Here’s a sample of the interview:

Though the NBA has yet to set a potential return date, MLB is reportedly targeting getting its players back on the field in mid-May if conditions allow for it.
