To commemorate their historic World Cup win in France, Sports Illustrated has given each member of the U.S. Women’s National Team and coach Jill Ellis, a chance to pose with the trophy on their own digital cover.
But this isn’t the first time SI has shelled out for the USWNT. When the team won the World Cup for the third time four years ago, SI had no issue to print, so the victory was celebrated with a special digital cover. Then in the next week for the first time in the magazine’s 65-year history, 25 different covers for that week’s issue were published: one for each of the 23 players, coach Jill Ellis, plus a group shot. Flash forward four years later, SI closed an issue with a cover shot of Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe celebrating during their final game against the Netherlands.
Between the win, locker room celebrations and yachts, SI caught up with the USWNT before their ticker-tape parade in New York City to once again give them the 24 cover portraits they rightfully deserve.
And they’re all available for purchase at the SI Covers Store, so you can always remember that women are better at soccer.
