The James-to-Ball connection looks like it could be a strong one this year for the Lakers.

The two most dynamic players on the Lakers’ roster, Lonzo Ball and LeBron James, took the floor together for the first time on Wednesday night.

They did not disappoint.

Ball replaced starting point guard Rajon Rondo after about two minutes of play and had a tough start to his evening, turning the ball over twice and shooting an airball.

The second quarter began much better for Ball as he caught an alley-oop from James and threw it down with a two-hand slam that was probably the highlight of the night.

“Doesn’t take much,” James said of the play. “It takes execution, it took a great back screen by [Kyle Kuzma on Quinn Cook]. It took Lance [Stephenson] doing what he needed to do on the slide going to the strong corner. When you got an athletic point guard like that, it’s my job to put it up there for him to go get it.”

James finished the night with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists while Ball ended up with seven points, four rebounds, and three assists.

The Lakers beat the Golden State Warriors 123-113. The two teams will play again on Friday night in the final preseason games for both clubs.
