Pennsylvania prosecutors will not pursue an inquiry into an allegation of sexual misconduct against Antonio Brown due to an issue with the statute of limitations.

Prosecutors from Allegheny County announced the news in a statement which was released on Wednesday.

“Our office, along with the Allegheny County Police Department, made contact with counsel for the plaintiff in the federal lawsuit involving Antonio Brown,” the Allegheny County District Attorney’s office said. “Procedurally, it appears there is a statute of limitations issue in moving forward with any inquiry involving the Allegheny County allegation mentioned in the lawsuit.”

In a civil lawsuit which was announced last week, Brown’s former trainer Britney Taylor accused the New England Patriots wide receiver of sexual misconduct during three incidents, one of which allegedly occurred in the All-Pro’s Pittsburgh-area home in June 2017.

Taylor had a lengthy meeting with the NFL this week about the allegations she made against Brown in the civil suit, but The Associated Press reports “there is no timetable for concluding the probe.”

That being the case, it seems likely Brown, who played last week against the Dolphins, will be on the field on Sunday when the Patriots host the New York Jets.

“It is Wednesday of a game week which generally means – generally – that if a player is eligible now, he will continue to be,” Ian Rapoport reported on NFL Now yesterday. “The league likes to have these decisions before a team starts the real and true preparation for games. So, at the very least it seems like at this point Antonio Brown is moving toward being eligible for another game.”
