In a Monday night matchup of the two last NFL MVPs on ESPN, it was Patrick Mahomes who came out on top over Lamar Jackson.

Mahomes accounted for five touchdowns — four passing and one rushing — as the Kansas City Chiefs rolled the favored Baltimore Ravens 34-20 on Monday Night Football.

Mahomes completed 31-of-42 passes for 385 yards and added 26 yards as a runner in the win and looked great throughout the night, moving in the pocket, avoiding pressure and hitting his open weapons down the field with ease. He wasn’t sacked or intercepted on the night and finished with a 133.5 QB rating. The 25-year-old now has 10,310 career passing yards and reached that number faster than any quarterback in NFL history.

“They don’t give that guy a half-billion dollars for no reason,” Ravens defensive tackle Calais Campbell said of Mahomes, who signed a 10-year, $503 million contract extension in July. “He just made play after play. You’ve got to give him respect.”

Jackson, who is 0-3 against the Chiefs and 21-1 against the rest of the NFL as a regular-season starting quarterback, completed just 15-of-28 passes for 97 yards and a touchdown, adding an additional 83 yards on the ground. It was the worst passing day of Jackson’s career, as last year’s MVP’s previous career low for passing yards was 105 yards.

His touchdown to Nick Boyle at the start of the fourth quarter gave the Ravens a little bit of hope, but Mahomes led the Chiefs right back down the field for a score as he continued to shred a defense that had allowed only two touchdowns in its first two games.

“You got to give credit to Pat for leading the charge. He stepped up big,” said Kansas City coach Andy Reid.

The Ravens (2-1) will take on the Washington Football Team (1-2) in Week 4 while the Chiefs (3-0) will get the New England Patriots (2-1).
