On the same day that Luka Doncic turned 22, his one-of-a-kind rookie card became a very expensive present for someone else.

According to an Instagram post from memorabilia collector Bolillo Lajan San, a one-off 2018-19 National Treasures Luka Doncic Rc Auto Logoman card sold for $4.6 million, the highest amount a basketball card has ever gone for.

Doncic, who was the only other player in NBA history besides LeBron James to record 4,000 points and 1,000 assists before his 22nd birthday, is averaging 28.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and nine assists this season.

The price Nick Fiorella paid for the card is second only to the $5.2 million a collector paid for a a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card earlier this year. The Mantle card was first sold for $2.8 million in April of 2018.

Already one of the most well-rounded players in the league, Doncic will be starting the All-Star game for the Western Conference for the second straight year next weekend in Atlanta. Doncic had 27 points on 11-of-21 shooting, six rebounds and seven assists on Sunday when the Mavericks snapped the Brooklyn Nets’ eight-game winning streak. The win brought Dallas back to .500 (16-16) on the season.

“He never lets anyone speed him up, and he gets what he wants,” Brooklyn star James Harden said of Doncic after the 115-98 road win for Dallas. “That’s rare for a guy at a young age. I think he’s 21 years old. And to be able to dictate the game and control the game like he does, we all know he has a very, very bright future. The Mavs got a special one.”

And Fiorella has a special card.
