Different teams, same result.

Former Eagles quarterback Nick Foles didn’t have a “Philly Special” in the playbook on Thursday night, but he didn’t need one to come out ahead in a matchup with former Patriots QB Tom Brady, again.

In a game that was somewhat of a rock-fight, Foles and the Chicago Bears were able to top Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-19 on Thursday Night Football.

Foles, who was the quarterback for Philadelphia when the Eagles beat the Patriots 41-33 in Super Bowl LII to capture the organization’s first title, completed 30-of-42 passes for 243 yards and a touchdown on the night and also guided Chicago’s offense down the field so Cairo Santos could kick a 38-yard field goal with 1:17 remaining to put the Bears ahead.

Brady and the Bucs got the ball back and had an opportunity to take the lead, but the 43-year-old quarterback’s fourth-down pass with 33 seconds left was broken up by DeAndre Houston-Carson and fell incomplete. Afterward, Brady put up four fingers and appeared to think he had one more down. He did not and Chicago took the ball and the game.

It was a fitting ending for a sloppy game by Tampa Bay that saw the team called for 11 penalties for 109 yards, a development that clearly got under Brady’s skin in the third quarter.

Following the game, Brady left the field without shaking Foles’ hand, the same thing he was criticized for after losing the Super Bowl to the former Eagle. (Given the pandemic, it might be fair to give him a pass this time.)

In Week 6, the Buccaneers host Green Bay and the Bears visit Carolina.

In other NFL news, the league has moved the Bills-Titans game from Sunday to Tuesday night at 7 p.m. and Sunday’s Broncos-Patriots game to Monday at 5 p.m. due to complications from COVID-19.
