In a proposal that was shared with Las Vegas officials on Tuesday, the NFL laid out plans for the upcoming draft that feature the event’s red-carpet stage set up as a float on the iconic Bellagio fountain with draft prospects arriving and leaving by boat.

The plan that was presented to the Clark County Commission also included a main stage — where Roger Goodell’s podium will be set up for announcing picks — that will be located next to Caesars Forum with the Las Vegas skyline serving as a backdrop.

“We couldn’t think of anything that was more Vegas than to deliver our prospects and their families to the red carpet by boat,” NFL Vice President of Live Events John Barker told the commission, according to Sports Illustrated. “Every prospect will arrive at the red carpet by boat and then they will exit by boat and then they will hit the processional heading toward the main theater stage.”

“Embracing Las Vegas’s unique energy and iconic locations as the backdrop for the 2020 NFL Draft will further elevate this growing event,” Peter O’Reilly, the NFL’s VP for league events, told 3 News.

It sounds as if the NFL’s over-the-top draft plans will actually come to fruition as the Clark County commissioners voted unanimously to approve the plans and released a map of the areas in Las Vegas that would be affected.

The draft will take place from April 23-25.

Hopefully projected No. 1 overall draft pick Joe Burrow will have his sea legs under him.
