The woman who wouldn’t go to the White House — not that she ended up being asked — thinks her father actually voted for Donald Trump.

In an interview with The Guardian, U.S. women’s soccer team co-captain Megan Rapinoe shared that both of her parents regularly watch Fox News. She also said she thinks her dad cast a vote for President Trump during the 2016 election.

“I think my dad voted for Trump and I’ll say: ‘I don’t get it. How are you simultaneously as proud as punch of me, and watching Fox News all the time, [who are doing] takedowns of your daughter?’” the World Cup champion told The Guardian. “That’s why I’m like: ‘You guys need to go to therapy.’”

Though Rapinoe said the political differences she has with her parents have led to “some major blow-ups,” she also called her relationship with her family “close.”

“I talk to my parents all the time, every day,” she said. “And I feel like I have seen progress and growth. I would love it if people understood you should never say racist things and be OK with gay people, or whatever it is. But, obviously, it doesn’t happen that quickly.”

It’s possible the World Cup champion will detail more details of the relationship she has with her family in one of her forthcoming books.
