While speaking with Peyton Manning on a recent episode of the former quarterback’s ESPN show, running back Marshawn Lynch revealed his pregame ritual for getting ready to take the field.

Surprisingly, it had nothing to do with Skittles.

Instead of tasting the rainbow, Lynch told Manning he would take a shot or a shot-and-a-half of Hennessy to calm his nerves before taking the field in the NFL during a conversation about pregame superstitions.

Asked if the Seattle locker room had a bar in it that was stocked with Hennessy, Lynch revealed the booze came from a different source. “The bar’s in my backpack,” he said.

Always a consummate professional, Manning had a much more boring answer and said his pregame superstition was reading the gameday program front to back before kickoff.

A Super Bowl winner with the Seahawks in 2014, Lynch retired as a five-time Pro Bowler last year after 12 NFL seasons. During his career, he racked up 10,413 rushing yards and 85 rushing TDs.

Currently 29th on the NFL’s all-time rushing yardage list, 34-year-old Lynch has an outside shot at making the Pro Football Hall of Fame but may not have done quite enough over the course of his career to qualify for a gold jacket.
