Needing a win to remain in the playoff hunt in the NFC, the Los Angeles Rams got a decisive one.

Just two weeks removed from getting destroyed on national television against the Baltimore Ravens, the Rams took care of business on Sunday Night Football and beat the Seahawks 28-12, snapping  Seattle’s five-game winning streak.

The Rams were able to hold MVP candidate Russell Wilson and the Seattle offense without a touchdown and were only able to put points on the board via a pair of field goals and a pick-six thrown by LA quarterback Jared Goff.

Goff, who also had another interception on the night but was not sacked a single time, passed for 293 yards and two touchdowns against the Seahawks.

An afterthought for much of the season, running back Todd Gurley ran for 79 yards and punched in a decisive fourth-quarter touchdown using a brutal stiff arm against Seattle’s Tre Flowers along the way.

With their fifth win in seven games, the Rams (8-5) kept their playoff hopes alive as well as prevented Seattle (10-3) from clinching a playoff berth.

The Seahawks, who had the second seed in the NFC entering SNF, fell to fifth place in the conference and second place in the NFC West as the San Francisco 49ers beat the Saints to retake first place in the division.

Now in the seventh spot in the NFC, the Rams will need some help if they are going to catch the Vikings (9-4) for the final wildcard spot in the conference.

“I think this is a different team now with a different mentality,” left tackle Andrew Whitworth said after the win. “I think we’re shooting our shot in the next three weeks. You can certainly see signs of last year. You don’t control your future, but we control how we come out here.”
