Under the guise of limiting the number of staffers needed at Madison Square Garden due to safety reasons amid the coronavirus pandemic, the New York Knicks have banned media members from covering games at MSG indefinitely, according to The New York Post.

Though MSG Network broadcasters Mike Breen, Walt Frazier and Rebecca Haarlow will still be allowed inside The World’s Most Famous Arena, other media members will be banned from the Garden starting with New York’s preseason games against the Cavaliers on Wednesday and Friday.

All NBA teams were given the option to limit media members attending games due to COVID-19, but the Milwaukee Bucks are the only other club that has taken the league up on its offer at this time.

“We continue to make health and safety our top priority,” the Knicks wrote in an email. “Given the rise in COVID-19 cases, media will not be permitted in arena for preseason games.’’

Though the Knicks have not said whether the ban will extend into the regular season, there’s a chance it could still be in effect when New York has its home opener against the Philadelphia 76ers on December 26.

Team owner James Dolan, who is regarded as one of the worst owners in all of professional sports, has a long history of banning fans from MSG for ripping the Knicks, including Hollywood star Ethan Hawke and former NBA player Charles Oakley.
