Jamal Murray Leads Nuggets Over Lakers to Bring West Finals to 2-1
Murray had 28 points, eight rebounds and 12 assists to lead the winners
Trailing the Los Angeles Lakers 2-0 in the best-of-seven Western Conference finals, the Denver Nuggets showed the resiliency they have displayed throughout the NBA playoffs and were able to get a win in Game 3, thanks in large part to rising star Jamal Murray.
Up by 20 at one point, the Nuggets nearly blew their lead but were able to hang on as Murray had two late 3-pointers to halt a Los Angeles charge and help Denver hold on for a 114-106 victory Tuesday night.
Murray had 28 points, eight rebounds and 12 assists to help Denver avoid falling into a 3-0 hole that no NBA team has ever overcome. Jerami Grant added 26 points and Nikola Jokic chipped in 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Nuggets.
“We feel that we should be up 2-1 right now, to be honest,” Murray said. “So we’re just going to move on to Game 4.”
LeBron James, who is two wins away from appearing in the NBA Finals for the 10th time and from bringing the Lakers to their first Finals appearance in a decade, had 30 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds for his 26th playoff triple-double. All-Star teammate Anthony Davis scored 27 points.
The NBA playoffs continue tonight with the Celtics taking on the Heat. Miami leads Boston in the Eastern Conference finals 2-1.
